Braveheart

The bravery had an unusual name which was Hins. His parents gave this name to him because they wanted him to be remarkable. He was thin but not very tall, quiet but not shy, optimistic but sensitive. He was a special young boy that has great courage.
Hins had never seen his father because his father had been missed when he was exploring a mysterious land when Hins was only a baby. He even didn't know if his father was still alive. He didn’t feel sad about his incomplete family, inversely he was very curious about the land.
As Hins grew up, his aspiration of exploring the land became stronger and stronger, so he wanted to go to his adventure. Though he wasn't afraid of the difficulties in his adventure, he didn't want to leave his mom. He was the only family that his mother had and she couldn't lose a person who she loved very much again. He promised to his mother that he would return home safely and got on the way of his adventure.
On his way, he met an old man who wore a brown cloak and had long mustache all over his face. To Hins's surprise, the old man knew where he was going, told Hins to be very brave and not to give up whatever was happened.
Then the old man gave Hins a sword with glare. It looked like a usual sword, long sliver and a little heavy. "It can be super powerful if you trust its power and yourself." The old man said.  Hins thanked for his encouragement and helpful gift, then left hopefully.
It became darker and darker. It felt like there was unknown danger behind every trees around Hins. Hins was walking the way that his father had walked on it before, as a result he felt complicated and a little homesick. He kept his steps carefully and looked around again and again. He was nervous but not scared at all. The thing which was keeping in his mind to encourage him going forward was his mother, he wanted to realize his dream and went back to his mother so he was full of energy.
After walking without any resting for two days, finally Hins was close to the land.
Far away from there he could see the land--- it was a big island which was covered by strong fog, he couldn’t see anything on it. He was standing by an escarpment, between it and the island there was a wide sea and the waves were running heavily. At that time he took out the sword, said loudly “just do it!” then jumped down of the escarpment. He didn’t think about death because he believed that the sword would save him deeply. As he thought, the sword changed into a big parachute so he got to the sea safely. Then it changed into a boat and took him through the sea.
When he got to the island, he was so tired that he felt insensible. After a few hours he woke up, he felt amazed when he saw the land that he wanted to get for many years---there was blue sky, green trees, fresh air and so on--- it was wonderful everywhere.
For the first time in his whole life, he felt that his father was standing about him, like talking to each other. He could imagine what his father’s feeling was when he got to this land a few years ago. His motion was very complicate, happy and touched. “I got here finally, dad. I know that you can hear me now.” He said with tears in his eyes.

It must be the happiest thing to live in this “paradise” especially Hins got here after experiencing so many difficulties. He may not come to this place again if he just left here. But he didn’t decided to stay there forever, because he missed his home, he missed his mother so much. He didn’t want to leave his mother alone. He wanted to stay with her. He returned home after resting. His mother was excited and cried happily when she saw his son was alive and was back home now. She had been deeply sad and listless for a few day. And she was so proud of his brave son. They hugged together for a long time, like the whole house was full of warm and love. They continued their life again and loved each other forever.

poem about my hometown

I miss Buways---the café across from my home.
Special smell of coffee, warm sunshine,
Golden light, brown desks and chairs,
And talking in Cantonese---my native language.

I miss my friend Sandy.
We used to sit there together,
Enjoying the peaceful afternoon, and a cup of tea,
And talking about our life.

I miss our time in Buways.
I’d put the sadness on the table there between me and Sandy,
And slowly break it.
I’d put my effort on my books with Sandy there,
Study quietly for several hours.
I’d put our happiness in a cup of tea between us,
Talking freely, and dreaming of our tomorrow.

When I return, I want to be back to the café.
Look at the change of Buways, and my dear friend.
And talk about our new life, in the nice sun, in a peaceful afternoon.
And happily say: “I haven’t seen you for a long time.”
